About the Fest 2007 Manteno Oktoberfest is in its 10th year. What was originally envisioned as a 1 or 2 block community affair has developed into the closing of Main Street from Division to the elevator bins. Everyone from 1 to 100 gets excited when they see the carnival rides begin to arrive and all the tents go up. There is something for all, from the Kids Corner (presented by our Title Sponsor Vulcan Materials Co.) to Live Entertainment for all age groups and likes. New items this year will be bus rides to the Vulcan Quarry for sight seeing tours, Chili Cook-off and back by great demand will be the Bean Bag Tournament and of course our Lighted Parade. Manteno’s Oktoberfest is sponsored by area merchants and businesses; without their support and generosity, it would not be possible. All work is on a volunteer basis and anyone wanting to experience community pride and self-fulfillment can find out what we are about at our monthly meetings held on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Manteno American Legion located on Walnut Street at 7:00PM.
